The Dalton Report

Super Guys!!!

Hey, everybody! Hope you're well.

If anyone knows how to post videos to blogs, please help me! I have something i want to share with you guys, and it is NOT working out...
In other news...

Our families are coming to see our house and have a meal today, and I am so excited!

Matt and Ya came over last night for Game Night, and they whipped our butts in Password. Word that lost it all for us- "root". I said carrot, radish, potato, ground, pig , but Barry was stumped. There will be a rematch.

However, I got the high score for one round of Rock band- on drums! MOST AWESOME GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barry had his last round of injections this week for his headaches. They seem to be helping, and I know the Topamax and cutting out caffeine have. His headaches are less frequent and certainly not as intense. Praise God!!

Cole and Reese finished their guitar camps this week with performances. Matt and Barry attended Cole's and I went to Reese's show. The report on Cole's was wonderful; Cole did great and has learned much from the camp. Reese did great, as well, and was one of only a handful of kids who had solos! He did his thing on the blues song they played- he sounded like a Mini Eric Clapton! He was dead serious, too- that's how Reese rolls. If it's not worth getting obsessed over, it's not worth doing! True had science camp and had a blast; he got to hold snakes and learn about different insects and reptiles. I am glad to be done with the running around, since they were at three different places with three different schedules!

We are headed to Tennessee tomorrow for a vacation. I know, we just had one at the beach, but remember, Barry was here putting in a wood floor while we were in the ocean and sunning it. So, that was more of a relocation to get us out of his hair! Seriously, we have never been to the mountains together, and it's our first real vacation as a family! It's our last "first", as we like to say!!!

We have found tiny frogs at our house- hundreds of them! In the picture, that is True's hand, so even though it's blurry, I hope you can get an idea of how small it is!

Well, I guess I'm done. Take care and see you all soon!

Dad's Day Pictures & Person of the Week

Hello, friends!

I didn't have time to post pictures before we left for the beach from our wonderful Dad's Day , so here are a few of my favorites. Big Poppa Barry was at the beach on Dad's Day, so that is why pictures of him are not included in the montage!

The boys served Barry breakfast in bed, but he opted to join us on the deck for waffles and bacon! (True suggested we all eat in my bed but I don't really like greasy, crumby sheets!)

This was part of my Dad's present from me...he loves cherry pie and I made his with a special message!

I don't know what the secret was, but I loved getting the picture of the following moment!

This is my nephew, Neal, and my Papa.

World's Greatest Dad

Cole, Neal, and Super Uncle Matt! There should be an Uncle's Day! I think I'll give him one... Now, the Person of the Week is very special to me for many reasons. First of all, if my son had come to me and said I am marrying a divorcee with three children, I would have hit him over the head with a frying pan or some other nearby object. Not only did she not do that, she immediately welcomed me with open arms, and has never made me feel like I had anything to prove. She has treated me like a daughter, and treated the boys as if they were Barry's own natural children.

Pam is a very intelligent person who always has good ideas to share. She is a faithful Christian and serves the Lord through her music. I remember her complimenting my singing voice long ago, long before Barry and I were a couple. However, Pam has a gift from God in her own voice; it is clear as a bell and powerful. I was shocked when I heard her Christmas church concert- her solo made me cry! (I have a CD from her choir, if you want proof!)

If you know Barry, you know that a man that wonderful does not burst spontaneously on the scene. Men like that are MADE with care by parents who raise them right. Pam (and Barry, Sr.) definitely raised a fine man who takes excellent care of our family. Thanks, Pam!

I love my Mother-In-Law!

See Ya Next Week!!

Paula Deen has all of you under her spell! Her food looks delicious and I think she's a hoot, but I'm trying to look good in my competition dress in August, and I think Mario can keep me on the better health track! I'd be afraid one bite of Paula's food would ruin me! Either way, you guys have spoken ans she wins...

We 're off to Topsail for the week! We can't wait to be on the sand and in the water...

*************************************************************************************
*Yesterday was my first anniversary to the sweetest man in the world. We had a killer dance lesson, shared a romantic meal for five from Taco Bell, then had some of our wedding cake at 10pm...it was a fantastic anniversary! I love you, B.

It's been the best year of my life! I pray for 50 more!

The Dalton Report

Hey, guys! We are doing well here. You all helped us make it through last week. Thank you for all your cards and phone calls! Your kind words and prayers are very much appreciated.

Summer is here! We will be at the beach from Tuesday until next Sunday, and I can't wait!

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there! Now, since my Dad and Barry have been recent recipients of the Person of the Week honor, I have double winners this week that are also VIPs in my children's lives...

The People of the Week......

Uncle Matt and Uncle Brandon!!!!

My brothers are awesome guys and great role models.

Brandon is a super Dad himself, raising two kids and doing an outstanding job. He is smart, hard-working, and loyal. He loves my kids and helped me with them in countless ways when I was going through a tough time in my life. He really stepped up to the plate when we needed him to. We used to fight like cats and dogs growing up, but we always supported each other. I wouldn't trade my relationship with him for the world; I know he will always be there for me.

Matt is funny, laid-back, and a great musician. He helps take care of the boys whenever I need him. He watches them every Wednesday night during our dance lesson, and no matter what I serve for dinner on those nights he says it was delicious! He plays sports with them, jams on guitars, and anything else they want to do. He deserves credit on Father's Day, too, since he has been such an important man to my boys and has made their lives better!

I love my brothers!

True Love Story

Hello, all! I hope you are well.

Barry's beloved grandmother, Nannie Mize (Pam's mom), passed away Friday. It was following a decline in health, but she passed suddenly after the family was told she had more time. Please pray for his family and for Barry as they go through this sad time. I only knew her for less than two years, but I can tell you this: she was a sweet, smart lady who loved her family. She absolutely adored Barry, whom she took care of when he was growing up. Every time I saw her, she would tell me what a good little boy he had been (nothing has changed there!). She loved to tell stories about him eating a big bowl of snacks she had made after school, or doing typical little boy things- memories of him she clearly treasured. She told me more than once that if he was as good a husband as he was a little boy, I'd be very happy! I made sure I told her on one visit before we married that I would take really good care of him, and she smiled and said, "I know that. He'll take good care of you, too". I'm happy we had that conversation.
************************************************************************************
Barry and I went to dinner last night at Steak Street in Greensboro. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes our way to dine. I had a NY Strip and salad and Barry had a pork chop and garlic mashed potatoes. The decor inside is fantastic, they had a live jazz band, and the food is awesome! Come meet us there for dinner sometime!

This is my final week of school, and I couldn't be happier. I am ready to be put out of my misery...we did find a new principal for next year and she will be at school tomorrow to meet everyone. I hope she can turn the discipline problem around. She came from an alternative school, so she certainly has the necessary background!

Well, you can tell we're in the South! Mater Sandwiches have swept the poll!! My prediction was chicken salad; shows what I know! Now, how many of you would have picked tomato if I had told you it was made with Helman's or Miracle Whip?!?!! A true Southerner would not stand for that ;)

Now, someone has a birthday tomorrow, and he is our....

PERSON OF THE WEEK!!

I have already bragged so much about Barry on this blog, I will keep it short and sweet!

Top 10 reasons to love Barry:

1. He is a wonderful, thoughtful husband.

2. He is a truly good man who is patient and kind.

3. He is absolutely gorgeous. Inside and out.

4. He is an excellent Dad.

5. He can dance like nobody's business!!!!

6. He compliments my cooking, even when I know it was a failed dish.

7. He has a clever sense of humor, but is also not afraid to be goofy.

8. He is very intelligent, and has both sides of the brain working (unlike myself!) He is both creative, imaginative, and logical.

9. He is never critical of others.

10. He loves to be a guy with our little guys, jamming on guitars, fishing, riding bikes- you'd think he was one of them!

I adore my husband...

Academic Stuff

Hi, everybody! Here's a mid-week report on our house and all its Brainiacs..

Cole made a perfect score on his Math EOG!! That made him the top scorer, and we are very proud of him!! Also, he has been accepted to the Academy at Lincoln for the upcoming school year. This is something we have prayed for; Lincoln is an excellent school which houses the top AL (Advanced Learner) students and will provide Cole with innumerable opportunities. Cole was also honored for having Honor Roll all year. His school did not hold a banquet, so no pictures are available. Close your eyes and picture a handsome boy in a black t-shirt holding a certificate. Yep, that's what would be in this spot...

Reese had his Honor Roll Banquet tonight. He received an Academic Acheivement pin and was recognized for excellent grades in front of his peers and their parents. We also received bbq chicken and peach cobbler:) He has worked really hard this year and we are super proud of him, as well!! Reese is a part of the AL program at his school and they will be traveling to Atlantic Beach in October to observe and study wildlife on the shore, sound, and marsh. He's really excited about that!!

Last, but not least, True received a certificate from his teacher today signifying that he was ready for kindergarten (but are they ready for him??). He was also given the "Math Award"! (You know they did not get this stuff from me) His teacher said that she loved to watch True counting on his fingers and yelling the answers out proudly. He will really miss Mrs. Vaughn, who loves him so much and has been a great teacher for him.

OK, enough bragging! Love you guys!!

The Dalton Report

Hey, Everybody!

I hope you are all doing great!

We are having a very busy time- but everyone is happy and well. The poll results from last week: most of you would make better grades if you could go back to High School. Me, too!
Here are some beach photos from last week; I hope you enjoy them.

By the way, the Person of the Week this week is me!

I am a nice person who tries to recycle and watches the news. I can make really good spaghetti and I am a good driver. I teach middle schoolers all day, which is enough reason to win the award, and I also have three boys to raise, which makes me a shoo-in!!! It's that time of year when teachers are running out of steam, plus I had a really stressful, drama- filled last few weeks, so I decided to give myself a pick- me- up by making myself the

PERSON OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope I made you laugh! I love you all.
