V.I.P.

First... Look at these beautiful children!!

Now...

This is a holiday weekend and we have games all next week after we return, so I don't know when I'll blog again. Therefore...

The Early Bird Special Edition of My Person of the Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Daddy

What can I say? Better yet, what can I not say that's wonderful about him? He's patient, kind, funny as all get out (albeit corny), intelligent, and really cool. I hope I'm as cool as my Dad, actually.

Billy Trivia:
1. He can name the artist, title, and year of release for almost every rock or pop song and album from the 60's through the 80's, and for selected artists, even more than that!
2. He has the best, movie-star hair you have ever seen. It is thicker than a 20 year-olds and when the wind blows it, it falls right back into place...I told you, cool!!!!!!
3. He makes the best creamed potatoes ever. Period.

4. He is a world-class whistler. He can make it shrill like a bird.

I envy his temperament; he hardly ever gets his feathers ruffled. He is a good, hard-working, upstanding man, a real old- fashioned gentleman. He gives my boys an outstanding role model.

I love my Daddy!!!

Your Dalton Report

Hello, everyone! I hope you are happy and well...

Here is the news for now (boring as it may be!!)...

"Singing" won the poll last week! Second place went to "sewing", which was a surprise! I had predicted singing and dancing in the top spots.

Barry has had a five- day caffeine withdrawal headache, but now it is much better. The doctor told him to expect this, but it's still been a difficult week for him. He went Thursday and got 26 injections in his neck and head!! The point of that treatment is to alleviate the stress pressure and improve his stress headaches.. So, we'll see!

True and Cole are into their baseball seasons full-swing! I love baseball season, even with the running and cramming in fast food and games every other night. I love the game itself, I always have. I love the excitement of two outs, three balls , two strikes in the bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, score tied up...I love the smell of spring at the field, the cut grass, the hot dog stand, the kids catching lightning bugs behind the stands while their big brother plays. Baseball is special to me. I guess I spent so much of my childhood at the ball field, it is a place of nostalgia! Anyway, the boys love it, too, so it works for everybody.

Reese is just hanging out (he's one of those lightning bug kids), but he wants to play baseball again in the fall. I knew that would happen, even though he claimed to be all about soccer now! He and Cole both have EOGs this week.

We visited Clifton Road Baptist again this morning. It was awesome!! I really feel like God is leading us there. We will be at Topsail this weekend, but we plan to try Sunday School the next week.

I have three weeks left of school- HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to a whole bunch of nothing this summer. It will be nice just to clean my house in a single day and not in daily installments. I remember the days when the kids went to school, and I would get to work on the house and go for a solid three hours and get so much done!! Now, I am never home by myself because when they are at school, so am I!! When I stayed at home, I still had so much to do, but at least when they were at school, I was alone to do it. I admit that I miss that, along with being able to attend all of their class functions and just eating lunch with them during the week at their schools. ANyway, at least I have the summers with them, and that's a nice trade-off. I just felt like sharing that thought...

AND NOW....

A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!

The person of the week is.....

MARY

I can hear you now, saying, "what's so great about Mary?" ok, I'll tell you...

M agnificent beauty...seriously, she looks like a Renaissance painting-the flaming hair, the porcelain skin- breathtaking

A mazing faith...she is filled with the Spirit

R eally loves her family

Y ou will not find a more determined mind or heart... fiercely loyal and very disciplined

I know, the acrostic was corny, but I knew she would appreciate it, because Mary is also silly like me. Growing up, she always looked up to me, but now, I find inspiration in her life as she follows God's plan for her. She has been a source of strength for me throughout my entire life. I adore and treasure Mary!!!

Inquiring Minds...

You guys are probably so anxious to find out who the person of the week is this week, and I made you wait an extra day!! I'm so mean.

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. I am curious if anyone got a vacation for Mother's Day, since that's the ONLY choice selected on the poll last week! Mom wouldn't vote; I think she was afraid I had it rigged to tell me what she voted for. Anyway, she got a very impractical gift from me- an orchid. It is beautiful, or rather it was when I left it with her on Sunday. Matt went in on the gift with Barry and me, and when I told him I had gotten an orchid, he seemed clueless.

"Do you know what that is?" I asked my little brother.

"Umm..yeah. Like, a kind of sea creature?"

"No, that's an urchin. You thought I bought Mom a sea creature? "

He's so cute.

For those of you who don't know, he's also 24.

Anyway, Mother's Day was great. I got beautiful tulips sent to work on Friday. The boys took me out Friday night to Azteca, our fave Mexican place. Reese and I split Fajitas Texanas. Sunday, we ate lunch with Mom, Dad, Brandon, Holly, Matt, and assorted children. Afterwards, we visited with Grandma Pam, Big Poppa (Reese's new name for Barry's Dad- hilarious!) Carrie, and Nannie Mize. We had ham biscuits and potato salad. It was very nice, and Barry's grandma seemed to be doing very well. Keep praying, though!

Here are some random photos for those who miss us...

True and Clifford at the Book Fair! (is it just me, or does Cliff look kind of pi**ed off?)

Look at my beautiful azaleas! And my beautiful boy!!!

True at Cole's rainy game!

  1. This is embarrassing. I took this picture at a stop light to see how I liked my new foundation in sunlight. All it did was make me notice how badly I need highlights. So, I thought there may be a weirdo out there who actually wants to see what I look like on my way to work. If so, this one's for you.

More handsomeness!!

OK,the moment you've all been waiting for!!

This week's person of the week is....

HOLLY!!

Now, let me tell you why!

Top 5 reasons to love Holly:

1. She has a great capacity to listen without judgement.

2. She is extremely trustworthy.

3. She is very kind.

4. She makes a mean pecan pie.

5. She is a Supermom- volunteering, chaffeuring, assisting, organizing, and whatever else she can for her kids.

Holly has always been there for me, and she is doing a great job raising my nephew and niece. Furthermore, she has to put up with Brandon, which earns her major points (HAHA). Seriously, she takes good care of him, too. Holly is the person of the week because I love her and appreciate her very much.

The Dalton Report

Hey, everyone!! I know you want your weekly dose of Dalton News...here goes!

What did I do this past weekend, you ask??

...and that's about all! It was heavenly. But, back to the News- now that you're all jealous :)

Reese did not win the Championship Game Friday night, but they were 2nd place in the league, so give it up for the Thunderbolts and Player #2- REESE STANLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barry went to the Headache Specialist last week, and was given some hope and relief. He was put on a daily anti-migraine medicine, and was given instructions to completely discontinue caffeine use. He has to return next week to receive injections in his neck to ease the tension there that is at the root of the tension headaches, and hopefully the migraines will stay away once he raises his threshold for them with the medicine and cardio three times a week. So, that's good news, because at least we can be pro-active and treat both types of headaches he suffers from.

Now, for the results of last week's poll! I assume that most of our blogstalkers are female, so let me say...ladies, you need some confidence! Lack of confidence won the poll by a longshot. As a matter of fact, I noticed that two people had voted for a different answer, then switched to lack of confidence!!! They weren't even confident about their answer!!! Anyway, I was really surprised at first, and then I asked myself which I would have chosen, and it was the same for me. I have confidence at work, when I'm acting or singing, in my faith, and in who I am and who loves me. BUT...I sometimes lack confidence in my parenting decisions. I constantly question myself. So, I guess we all need a little confidence. Trust me, you guys all ROCK, so let's feel good about who we are!!!!

I would like to introduce a new feature on The Dalton Report. each week, I will recognize a "Person of the Week" for their contributions to my life...just to show appreciation and let others know of their awesomeness...

This week's honoree is...

MY MOM

I know, it's Mother's Day week, so it was sort of a given, but she would have been the first one anyway!

My Mom has always been supportive of me, even when she thought (or knew) I was making a mistake. She is encouraging, caring, and gives really good, well-thought out advice.

One thing I don't think she knows about herself is how fun she is to be around! She tells animated stories about her day, loves to laugh, and finds joy in learning about anything new.

Good things she gave me:

a love of reading

a love of finding interesting little places on trips

a love of God

an understanding of how important little things are to your kids

We are lucky to have you, Mom!!
